**Please put “Wendy Daughtry” in the line.

My name is Wendy Daughtry, I am 24 years old, and I have been around VSM since September 2025.

Prior to that time, I was an avid churchgoer. Although I experienced many hardships growing up, I at least fought to keep that part of my upbringing consistent as I grew older. I eventually served in my home church as a first-time guest greeter, which was perfect for me because I could keep doing in that role what I’ve always done. I could be the happy-go-lucky girl who loves life, the magnet that draws others in, and the person who is there to help without the time or obligation to go deep about anything.

I knew God was real but I had no example of people exemplifying His deep love and intentionality. No one revealed there was more to this life than the surface-level everyone fixates on. I had “godly” leaders (parents included) and peers all around me and yet no real guidance, no one slowing down to build a genuine relationship (especially not one truly God-centered), no one giving me personalized wisdom (especially not wisdom guided by Holy Spirit), apart from the generalized wisdom given to the masses. Honestly, I didn’t know who Wendy was or even who God was. I was only shown shallow, so I stayed there and was content with it for a very long time - until I wasn’t… There came a day when I was so exhausted with myself, the situations I allowed myself and others to put me in, the continuous sinful cycles, the two lives I constantly lived that I finally reached the low point of thinking, “There has to be more to this life than this.”

That day, I made an agreement in my heart and mind through a prayer that I was going to figure out this whole “trusting God” thing with Him, even without having been shown what it truly meant or looked like. Just moments later, I received a text from an old college classmate reading, “Wendy! Okay so, give me a call later tonight, I believe God put you on my mind to reach out to today!”I knew it was God graciously answering that prayer, and so quickly, too. Her obedience in sending that text quite literally changed everything for me.

Before I knew about VSM The Hub or even that Doug Pierce was the director, I began learning what VSM was as a ministry through meeting with her, other staff members and volunteers, and Doug. I discovered a community of people dedicated to learning and sharing truth. I began understanding the importance of what they do very quickly because God, through these people, began revealing Himself to me. They were slowing down and building genuine relationships with me. I was so enamored by their testimonies and the evidence of God’s work in their lives. Their hunger, their speech, their conduct, and how they loved all pointed towards something real, something with depth. Though some were younger than me, I had a deep desire to be spiritually mature as they were. So, I did what they did…

I quit my job and ended up attending the immersive, three-month discipleship school called the School of Foundation and Identity (S.O.F.I.) from March through May 2026. There, I began learning who Wendy was and what had shaped her world. I began learning who God is and finally understanding and experiencing His presence for the first time in my entire life. I also began being discipled by my mentor, Doug, who has dedicated and sacrificed so much of his time to giving me the real guidance and personalized wisdom, led by Holy Spirit, that I had never received before or even known existed. It will always be one of the sweetest seasons of my life. I will never forget S.O.F.I. and everything that came from it.

By the time the school ended, I wanted to discover more about what it would really look like to be involved in this ministry and whether it was something I might even be willing to dedicate my life to for a season. So, I joined their summer internship program… Through the skate camps, surf camps, and volunteering at The Hub, I began seeing the bigger picture. I began meeting mini-Wendy’s. I was meeting kids who were given time and attention, being seen (some seemingly for the first time ever), and forming genuine relationships. I was getting to see, in real time, the beautiful effects of this ministry on people beyond myself and those directly involved in it. I was seeing what true service can look like.

From there the team goes to Ecuador in August of 2026…

C.T. Studd’s famous quote reveals the biggest thing I learned in the importance of “going”: “The light that shines the farthest shines brightest nearest home.”

I began realizing that we were only able to unify, build relationships, be led by His Spirit, witness God being revealed, and carry on ministry through the faith lived out back home in Brunswick, Georgia. With all this undeniable evidence of the fruit of this ministry, I am proud to stand firm in my conviction to be a part of this ministry full-time.

My goal is to raise $1,700 a month through monthly supporters. I am always grateful for anyone who wants to invest in what God is doing in my life. If you feel led to partner with me, please click the donate button!

Thank you for being a part of what God is doing in and through me to share the Gospel of the kingdom.
